Using Your SAMradar to ACT - Email the Buyer
SAMradar/SAM.bid learns what is important to you by scrubbing the 20,000 awards daily that NEVER hit SAM.gov. (in fact 98% do not hit SAM.gov and exactly why SAMradar exists. Because you need to get to the other 98%!
By now you should be seeing SAMradar Award Notifications and the chances are those notifications will show you that there are fewer than 5 offers received for that particular award.
This is why your #1 job is to Build Relationships.

Now it is time to ACT - and email the buyer!

MISSION 3
Understanding SAMradar Navigation
If you performed your previous missions, you already know about the "Contact Buyer" button which opens up an email to the buyer (imagine that, acting on information right from SAMradar)
Today's mission is to open up a SAMradar Award Notification and click the buttons to open up your account. Once you are logged in, all of the navigation buttons will work).
All the rest of the SAMradar buttons will take you right to the information on SAMradar. We do this so you can quickly access what you need to reinforce your #1 Job: Building Relationships.
Some Important Pointers:
Just a quick reminder that SAMradar is different than any other federal opportunity monitoring system because it is designed to help you connect with buyers and you might want to know a little more about their purchases, vendor relationships and how much they spend - That is why you have SAMradar!
Take a look at your SAMradar notification email and you will find the following buttons:

"Award Details" where you can see all of the contract information provided from FPDS.gov.

"Buyer Activity" where you can see the past 12 months of purchases AND prime relationships.

"Track Prime" where you can track the competition and see all of their awards as they happen.

"Contact Prime" where you can see the contacts of the prime (maybe so you can be a sub).

"Prime Activity" where you can see all the contracts the prime has won in the past year + buyers* for those contracts.

"Edit Match Criteria" where you can make adjustments to your searches

"Rate the Buyer" to let SAMradar know if the information is sound, or if additional research is needed.
There is a TON of information and a lot of functionality so remember your #1 Job - Building Relationships - and let SAMradar do the research grunt work (it's better at it than you are). We will be reviewing in future sessions so don’t get overwhelmed and do your best to resist the rabbit trails.

MISSION 4
Activate the Buyer Activity Button
You already know about the "Contact Buyer" button which opens up an email to the buyer. Today's mission is to open up a SAMradar Award Notification and click the "Buyer Activity" button. This will take you to your SAMradar account (you will need to log in to your SAMradar account to use the navigation buttons.)
The Buyer Activity will show you the past 12 months of contracting activity, dollars spent, number of contracts and all of the vendors that are being awarded contracts from that specific buyer. This is the crucial information that you can use to stand out.
We do this so you can quickly access what you need to reinforce your #1 Job: Building Relationships.
Some Important Pointers:
You can use this information when you contact the buyer so you can ask better questions, gain understanding of the procurement vehicles they use, and most importantly, let them know you want to be in the list of contractors they use on a regular basis (like the ones you will see on SAMradar).
There is a lot of functionality that we will be reviewing so don’t get overwhelmed and resist the rabbit trails. Let the system do the work and train SAMradar to deliver you what matters most so you can do your #1 Job: Build Relationships! Remember that the vast majority of what you will find on SAMradar never showed up on SAM.gov. In fact, only 2% of ALL opportunities hit SAM.gov and that is why you need SAMradar! SAMradar sifts through the 20,000+ contracts awarded every day and you train SAMradar to show you the ones that matter most!

MISSION 5
Introduce Yourself To The Prime
You already know about the "Contact Buyer" button which opens up an email to the buyer and you can do the same thing with the Prime winner! Just click on the "Contact Prime" button in your SAMradar Award Notification and this will take you to your SAMradar account (you will need to log in to your SAMradar account. Once you are logged in, all of the navigation buttons will work).
From there SAMradar will show you all the contacts at that vendor that we have collected over the years.
Contact info included with emails and phone numbers!
Remember that from this view you can also see the past 12 months of contracting activity, dollars spent, and number of contracts.

MISSION 6
Send the Buyer A Follow-up Email
You already know about the "Contact Buyer" button which opens up an email to the buyer. Today's mission is to go back a few days and look at the emails you sent to buyers. Any of the buyers who did not respond send them another email so they know you are serious and you are not going anywhere!

Your email doesn't have to be long, just check on the original email and make sure they are getting it.
Follow-up emails are an important part of this process, and help you keep an engaged and consistent relationship going with the federal buyer. After all, 400% more buyers respond to the second and third email!
MISSION 7
Call The Buyer Again
We recently discussed in the Monday Roundtables that FIVE contracting officers finally took a meeting after calling them for 6 months. That was their only criteria - they wanted to know that we were for real!

This way you are an active participant in making sure so SAMradar knows what buyers make the best future prospects and that SAMradar buyer contact information is accurate.
